How to review a video edit with a timing worksheet
Timing errors often survive a polished preview. Use a small shot log to compare the planned sequence, the timeline and the exported video without relying on memory.

A small example to work through
Our original 12-second sequence has three shots: establish the space, show the action and hold on the result. Times are planning values, not a ScenePilot render.
| Item | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Establish | 0–3 s | Three-second orientation |
| Action | 3–8 s | Five-second action must stay intact |
| Result | 8–12 s | Four-second closing hold |
| Total | 12 s | Check exported duration separately |

Use the blank observation and decision fields to record your own result. These downloads are planning worksheets; they do not load an app project or demonstrate a completed export.
Try it and inspect the result
- Import a short piece of footage and audio you can use into ScenePilot. Write the intended shot durations before arranging the timeline.
- Compare the edit against the worksheet. Play through each boundary rather than checking only still frames or a paused waveform.
- Use a short export first and play it outside the workspace. Check duration, sound, first frame and last frame before scaling up to a longer project.
When the result differs
- Cut arrives too early
- Compare the action with the planned boundary; a musical beat is not always the right storytelling cut.
- Export differs from preview
- Review the output file directly and document the browser and format used.
- Sound ends abruptly
- Inspect the final audio boundary independently of the final video frame.
What this example establishes
A correct 12-second duration does not prove correct cuts or audio sync. The browser edition is alpha; this guide supplies a repeatable review method rather than a claim that every source format or export path is qualified.
This page supplies a worked example and a review method. It does not report a newly completed end-to-end app test. For current availability and edition details, read the ScenePilot overview.
