Glyph

Draw it. Type with it.

Glyph, inside Luma Studio's “…” menu, turns brush or pen drawing into straight-segment polygon outlines across a guided grid of A–Z, a–z, 0–9 and 23 punctuation marks, then exports OTF (CFF) and TTF and installs the font directly into Luma's own Type tool.

WHAT IT DOES

Draw a few letters. Get a working font.

Draw each character on a guided grid with ascender, cap-height, x-height, baseline and descender guides, using brush or pen tools. Glyph compiles your strokes into straight-segment polygon outlines, exports OTF (CFF) and TTF files, and installs the font into Luma's Type tool through this browser's storage — so it shows up right alongside your other type choices.

HOW IT WORKS

Three steps to get there.

  1. 01

Draw a few letterforms on the grid.

Use brush or pen tools against the ascender/cap-height/baseline guides.

  2. 02

Preview the font as you go.

Undrawn characters fall back to the next font until you draw them.

  3. 03

Export OTF/TTF and install it in Luma.

The font appears directly in Luma’s Type tool for this browser.

HONEST LIMITS

What Glyph doesn't do.

Current limitations

Luma's in-editor Glyph tool has no curve fitting, hinting, kerning, accents, or bold/italic — it's deliberately simpler than the standalone Glyph Studio below. Undrawn characters just fall back to the next font, and the installed font lives in this browser's storage, not embedded in .luma or PSD files by this tool. This is a public web alpha; features are still changing.

One good first test

  1. 01Draw three or four letters on the grid.
  2. 02Export an OTF or TTF file.
  3. 03Add a text layer and type with the new font.
