How to review suspected duplicate files before removing anything
Names and file sizes are useful clues but do not establish identical content. Use a small inventory to separate candidates for review from files you have proved equivalent.

A small example to work through
Our original fictional inventory has two files called cover.png at different sizes and one renamed copy. Nothing is deleted; these entries are a reasoning exercise.
| Item | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| cover.png in Drafts | 120 KB | Same name is only a clue |
| cover.png in Final | 240 KB | May be a higher-resolution version |
| cover-copy.png | 120 KB | Same size does not prove same bytes |
| notes.txt | 2 KB | Different purpose: retain during review |

Use the blank observation and decision fields to record your own result. These downloads are planning worksheets; they do not load an app project or demonstrate a completed export.
Try it and inspect the result
- Choose the read-only browser companion for a review exercise, or the separately available Mac alpha for its supported local workflow.
- Inspect source location, dimensions and content. Keep a separate copy of important work before applying an action through the Mac edition.
- Review any proposed action individually. If content equality matters, compare file bytes or a trustworthy digest rather than assuming matching names mean duplicates.
When the result differs
- Two names match
- Inspect contents and resolution; filenames are not identity.
- Two sizes match
- They may still contain different bytes.
- Browser cannot remove a file
- That is the read-only companion scope, not evidence that a destructive action succeeded.
What this example establishes
The browser companion does not delete local files. Reclaim Mac 0.1.1 is a public signed alpha for macOS 13 and later, with clean-machine, physical Intel and oldest-system qualification still outstanding. This worksheet is not a scan result.
This page supplies a worked example and a review method. It does not report a newly completed end-to-end app test. For current availability and edition details, read the Reclaim overview.
