How to check an image export against its editable layers
A flattened picture and an editable document solve different problems. Before closing an image editor, make sure you can keep editing and that the exported image matches the intended layer state.

A small example to work through
Our original poster plan uses three layers: a paper background, a purple circle and a dark title. A fourth reference layer should stay hidden in the final image.
| Item | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Paper | Visible | Opaque background required |
| Purple circle | Visible | Check overlap beneath title |
| Dark title | Visible | Inspect small text at actual display size |
| Reference sketch | Hidden | Must not appear in final export |

Use the blank observation and decision fields to record your own result. These downloads are planning worksheets; they do not load an app project or demonstrate a completed export.
Try it and inspect the result
- In Luma label layers by purpose and choose the intended visible state. Keep a working copy before flattening or exporting.
- Export a small test through the available controls. Open the result outside the editor so the preview is independent of the layer workspace.
- Compare corners, text and overlapping edges. Keep the editable document alongside the delivery image; a PNG alone cannot preserve a layer stack.
When the result differs
- Unexpected sketch in export
- Check reference-layer visibility before repeating the export.
- Text looks soft
- Inspect at the actual delivery size; zoomed previews can conceal resampling.
- Background became opaque
- Choose whether the delivery needs transparency and verify the resulting pixels, not just the filename.
What this example establishes
The worksheet records an intended composition rather than a tested Luma export. For transparent delivery, use the separate PNG edge guide and inspect several backgrounds before sharing.
