How to find and check a video loop seam
A loop needs more than a convenient duration. The motion, framing and sound at the end must reconnect with the beginning without an obvious jump.

A small example to work through
Our original pendulum example moves left, centre, right, centre and back toward left over two seconds. A full cycle is a better candidate than stopping halfway through the return.
| Item | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 0.0 s | Left edge | Opening position |
| 0.5 s | Centre moving right | Direction matters |
| 1.0 s | Right edge | Not the opening state |
| 1.5 s | Centre moving left | Same position as 0.5 with opposite direction |
| 2.0 s | Return toward left | Candidate repeat boundary |

Use the blank observation and decision fields to record your own result. These downloads are planning worksheets; they do not load an app project or demonstrate a completed export.
Try it and inspect the result
- Open a short clip in Loop and find a complete movement cycle. Compare direction as well as position at each endpoint.
- Watch several repetitions. If the seam is visible, move endpoints by small amounts rather than choosing a different duration blindly.
- Review any saved loop independently, including its audio boundary. Keep the source clip so you can revise endpoints later.
When the result differs
- Endpoints have the same position but jump
- Their velocities may differ; compare movement direction.
- Loop has a brief pause
- Check duplicated endpoint frames or a hold at the boundary.
- Sound clicks
- Inspect audio discontinuity separately; matching pictures do not guarantee matching sound.
What this example establishes
These positions are a written motion study, not an exported Loop clip. Browser playback and encoding still affect the result. A clean source cycle gives you a better candidate, not a guarantee of seamless output.
This page supplies a worked example and a review method. It does not report a newly completed end-to-end app test. For current availability and edition details, read the Loop overview.
